They have rated wellbeing and attitudes to learning at the school in Three Crosses as excellent and said it is good in all other inspection areas.

The inspection team from Estyn spent a week at the school in June and have just published their findings.

The report states: "During their time at the school, most pupils, including those in the specialist teaching facility, make good progress in developing their literacy and information technology skills.

"Standards of behaviour and self-discipline are very good in nearly all lessons and around the school."

They said the school plans the curriculum effectively and teachers develop pupils skills successfully through a wide range of interesting activities.

The report adds: The use of outdoor learning to enhance pupils' attitudes to learning and improve their wellbeing is excellent and this ensures that pupils are developing into confident learners."

Inspectors said headteacher Dylan Saer provides effective leadership and is passionate about ensuring that all pupils have the best start to their education.

He provides a clear strategic direction for the school, which has a strong culture of continuous improvement.

The governing body makes an effective contribution to the school's development and partnership working is a strong feature at Crwys Primary.

Mr Saer said: "Pupils, staff and our wider community can be very proud of this report and I would like to thank them all for their continued support.

"It is a wonderful way to start the new school year and we will continue to build on this in the months ahead."

Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Education Improvement, Learning and Skills, Jennifer Raynor, said: "Congratulations to everyone at Crwys Primary.

"The excellent rating for wellbeing reflects that the school has keen and happy learners.

"It is also pleasing to note the effectiveness of the governing body and the successful use of outdoor learning among the many highlights."
